The Volvo Ocean Race’s Alicante Race Village will be alive with music as it hosts 20 concerts in 20 days.
Top acts including Seguridad Social and José Mercé will grace the stage at the race village during the run-up to the start of the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12.
Rock fans will be treated to tributes to greats like the Rolling Stones, The Beatles, U2 and The Police in a festival of music to celebrate the start of the round the world race.
The concerts kick off on October 14 with the opening of the Race Village and run right through to November 5, the day before the Volvo Ocean Race teams will set sail from Alicante and start their race through the Atlantic to Cape Town, South Africa.
The line-up for the Alicante race village is:

To add to the fun, a Battle of the Bands competition will run on October 17, 18, 19, 24, 25 and 26 as well as November 1 and 2.
The Race Village, located at the port, will be open from October 14 each day until the start of the race and will feature a host of attractions including a 3D cinema, a simulator that lets you experience what it’s like to sail on a Volvo Open 70, a winch grinding challenge plus a special area dedicated to entertaining children.
