The Volvo Ocean Race’s long established commitment to youth sailing worldwide continued in 2011-12 with the Volvo Ocean Race Academy and more initiatives will be introduced to build on this legacy in future editions of the race.

Academy Team Racing Clinic
Every Host Port in the 2011-12 edition of the race featured an Academy Team Racing clinic, sailed in 20 Volvo Ocean Race Academy branded singlehanded Optimist dinghies.

ISAF Umpire Clinic at Volvo Ocean Race Host Ports
ISAF and Volvo Ocean Race teamed up in 2011-12 to provide an Umpire Clinic at every host port of 11th race edition. The clinic was part of the Volvo Ocean Race Academy, a youth sailing programme to help promote and build the sport of sailing in every stopover country.
