Hong Kong, here we come!

Iconic port will host Volvo Ocean Race for first time ever in 2018

Hong Kong, one of the world’s most prestigious sailing destinations, will host the Volvo Ocean Race for the very first time in February 2018.

It will be the largest world-class sailing event ever staged in Hong Kong and will transform the old airport in Kai Tak and introduce locals and visitors alike to a wide range of race-related activities including an in-port race on Victoria Harbour before the fleet departs on the next leg.

The city is the perfect place to host an incredible stopover – an iconic and cosmopolitan city, linked to a rich maritime heritage, and an ideal spot for the sailors to unwind after an epic and exhausting leg.

If you’re planning to visit, there’s plenty to see and do. Take the tram to the top of Victoria Peak – the highest point in Hong Kong, and the perfect spot to gaze upon the city’s stunning skyline at sunset. For a taste of Hong Kong’s cultural heritage don’t miss the Big Buddha (it’s pretty hard to!) and the Po Lim monastery, which can be reached in style, by the longest cable car in the world! And if you’re into theme parks, you’ll be at home in Hong Kong – there’s a Disneyland and Ocean Park, two of the best on the planet.

The 13th edition of the world’s toughest offshore race will begin on Sunday, October 22, 2017 from Alicante (Spain) - more info here.
